Take Care of You

I'm a member of the You-Are-Beautiful monthly sticker club. Each month, I get 30 YAB stickers in the postal mail. The idea: Spread love; share stickers; and let people know they are beautiful as-is. (If you haven't yet received a sticker from me, please let me know. I have many to share!)

Within each envelope comes a special message. Saturday, I opened it and found this: Take care of you. Tears came down my face. I realized how much I'm taking care of others. It feels good! It's a way to find meaning during a global pandemic. And still, if I don't take care of myself, I can't wholeheartedly care for others. I realized my tank is empty. I need compassion, care, and attention, not from anyone else, but from myself. Slowly, I'm nourishing, one moment at a time.

As you look at this photograph, take in the message. What part of YOU needs love, acceptance, or forgiveness? What part of you needs tending? We often put ourselves at the bottom of the to-do list. For a few moments, move yourself to the top. What small step can you take toward self-care, restoration, and nourishment? Take that step. Then take the next. Take care of you, so you can better take care of others.

Kindness inward radiates outward. Compassion inward ripples outward. Gentleness inward allows for outward understanding, patience, and perspective.
