Yesterday, I had three (in-person!) pastoral visits at Oshkosh Correctional. These are spaces of deep listening and bearing witness, as well as reflecting the prisoner’s goodness and growth back to them.
On Monday, after 17 months, we volunteers were let back inside prison. The correctional officers were kind and helpful. The incarcerated people in our meditation group were joyful.
For two weeks, I’ve been fully vaccinated. During that time, I’ve had rich, meaningful (close contact!) connection with family and friends. With each hug, I feel joy and love, as well as deep grief and rawness. When the heart opens, it opens in all directions.
